Ste6 belongs to the cobalt-chrome-tungsten alloy family (equivalent to Stellite 6) and is supplied by Huayin as a spherical HVOF powder. Chromium carbides in the cobalt matrix give metal-to-metal wear and galling resistance and retain hardness even when the part runs hot, where many iron-based alloys degrade quickly.
It suits valve seats, cutters, sliding surfaces and parts under friction at medium to high temperature. The cobalt base also resists corrosion and oxidation to a degree. As with any HVOF system, actual hardness and bond strength depend on the equipment and the spray run; CQ advises on particle size and matching process.
